The Egypt Foundation for Integrated Development (ENID/El Nidaa) held its First Gala Dinner under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt at the Marriott Zamalek (Aida Ballroom) on Saturday the 8th of February 2020 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
The Gala first started with a live performance by the talented harpist Yasmin El Harby, after which H.E. Dr. Magued Osman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of El Nidaa Foundation, gave opening remarks about ENID/El Nidaa’sachievements to date and its aspirations for the future. This was followed by Mr. Richard Dictus, United Nations Resident Coordinator, who gave a keynote speech in appreciation and recognition of the efforts of Mrs. Yousriya Loza Sawiris, Chairwoman of the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and the guest of honor of our ceremony, in the field of development in Egypt. The Keynote Speech was followed by short words by Ms Randa Abou El Hosn, UNDP Representative in Egypt, H.E. Dr. Nivine El-Kabbag, Minister of Social Solidarity, and finally H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation. Following the speeches, guests enjoyed their dinner with the folkloric stick dance performance (Tahteeb) by the Medhat Fawzi Center for the Stick Arts/El Warsha Theatre Company.
More than 300 people attended the Gala Dinner, including a select group of ministers (see list below), key government officials, UN agencies, business leaders, civil society representatives, TV celebrities and select media attended this high-level event.
At the entrance of the hall, a variety of artisanal high-end crafts produced by ENID/El Nidaa’s women beneficiarieswere displayed to demonstrate the quality of work and skills of their craftsmanship . The products displayed varied from jewelry (pearls and Pharaonic style), to furniture, readymade garments (ready-to-wear fashion), and a satisfying variety of home accessories. Proceeds of this fundraising event are supporting the sustainability of ENID/El Nidaa’s interventions in Upper Egypt, each of which is raising the socio-economic wellbeing of impoverished women and youth. To date, ENID/El Nidaa has piloted 45 successful and innovative interventions in the sectors of Sustainable Agriculture, Basic Services, and MSMEs, and has created more than 4000 job opportunities in 76 villages in the South, utilizing a fully integrated approach. We hope that you continue providing support to disadvantaged communities and supporting us on this journey towards building empowerment paths for rural women in Upper Egypt, in order to support the underserved governorates of Egypt.
ENID/El Nidaa offers services that give the opportunity for women to continue their education, which builds the self-esteem of these women who have participated in our literacy classes, health awareness classes, and in training workshops of artisanal crafts as well as agricultural activities. All women participate voluntarily therefore it highlights their commitment for consensus building towards a shared vision, amongst the women and as well as between these women and ENID/El Nidaa’s vision.
